While the calendar just turned to 2025 and a Final Four in San Antonio looms in April, the NCAA unveiled the logo for the 2026 Final Four in Indianapolis this week. It’ll be the Circle City’s 9th time hosting the premier event in college sports, just one shy of the record held by Kansas City.1

With a little history out of the way, let’s talk logo. The 2026 mark, designed by Indy’s own Section 127,2 draws on local imagery in a few different ways. Here’s a quick video showing how it all comes together:

It’s a nice mark! The NCAA has been opting for a not-quite-templated approach to Final Four logos since the mid-00s, but this logo and 2025’s before it stand on their own more than many over the past couple decades. A shared theme of the 2020s has been including a bracket element somewhere in the design, this year taking the form of a 'bracket-ball’3 that builds off of the city flag and Monument Circle at the center of downtown. That’s a slick 4-for-1 design move (bracket, basketball, flag, city) that you have to tip your cap to. It’s clever and balances well with the FINAL FOUR wordmark above and below. I could take or leave the beveling and the supporting type is a bit squished through the middle, but overall it’s well-balanced and quite successful. I’m really looking forward to seeing it activated around town over the coming year.

This logo release is also a perfect opportunity to do a little tier listing, a very scientific and unbiased activity that never makes anyone mad! No explanation, all vibes, here goes nothing:4

Y’know, now that I see them next to each other, ‘91 and ‘26 sure have a whole lot in common. The information hierarchy, the central basketball element, the twinned ribbons, the color palettes… could it be a subtle 25th anniversary tribute? Food for thought.
